With the ID data option enabled in the admin's 'Compliance' panel, you can require that your users scan their U.S., Canadian, or South African driver licenses to make purchases larger than a set amount.
From their license, your machine parses the information contained in the 2D barcode (PDF-417) contained on the back of the ID card, and records it in your server's database of customers.
⚠️ NOTE: If you are serving customers predominantly outside of the U.S., Canada, or South Africa, do not enable this feature, rather, use ID Card Image instead.
Enabling ID card scanning
Before enabling ID Card Data, please ensure SMS is properly configured via the article: Enabling SMS Compliance
To enable ID scanning go to the 'Compliance > Triggers' panel in the admin and click on the '+Add new trigger' button, select a trigger and choose ID data as a requirement.
Ensure to set an ID Card Data fiat threshold higher than the SMS threshold and click Finish.
Upon attempting to insert more bills than the threshold amount, users will be prompted to either scan the back of their ID card, or complete the transaction by sending the crypto for that which they've already inserted.
Once an ID card's data is on file, it is thereafter associated with that user's phone number, such that they will not need to scan their card again after identifying via SMS in subsequent transactions.
Troubleshooting
Some licenses' barcodes are quite dense, making reading them more difficult without the camera in fine focus. If you find it difficult to pick up your state or province's license, please check the alignment and focus of your machine's camera.
If you find that a particular state's ID card is not being picked up by the scanning bay, while other states' IDs are, then the parsing software may need adjustments particular to this state or province's format. Please create a support ticket so that we may investigate.
