What is Sumsub?
Sumsub is a third-party ID verification service that connects to your Lamassu Admin to help automate customer verification.
Instead of manually reviewing IDs and documents yourself, Sumsub handles the process for you. Customers are guided through a quick verification on their phones, often getting approved instantly. This helps speed up the experience at the machine and removes the need for manual reviews on your end.
Signing up for Sumsub
Obtaining Sumsub API Credentials
Once there, click on App Tokens on the new menu, and hit 'Generate app token' on the right.
From there, simply assign a name to this API key. We'll use 'Lamassu' in the example below, but you can call it whatever you'd like. Then hit 'Generate App token'.
Next you'll see a small window pop up with your own API's Token and Secret Key.
⚠️ IMPORTANT
⚠️ IMPORTANT:
Save these as you'll need them for later
Creating a Sumsub Applicant Level
Applicant levels in Sumsub define what information and documents a user needs to provide during the verification process.
Levels can have multiple requirements, such as uploading an ID, taking a selfie, or submitting proof of address.
Considering users will be prompted to Sumsub only once during a transaction, you'd want to set this up so it requests all the necessary information whenever the user goes though Sumsub verification.
On the side menu of your Sumsub cockpit account, find and navigate to 'Integrations'⚠️ IMPORTANT:
We'll use 'Lamassu-KYC' in this example. Save this name as you'll need it later.
Adding a Sumsub API Key to the Lamassu Admin
On your Lamassu Admin, go to 'Settings > 3rd Party Services'. Scroll down until you find Sumsub and click 'Edit'.
Scroll down until you find 'Sumsub' and add the previously saved API Token and Secret Key as well as the Applicant Level you created, which in this guide was 'Lamassu-KYC' as seen on the pictures above.
Creating a Sumsub Compliance Trigger in the Admin
We're pretty much done now! All there's left to do is to create your Lamassu Admin compliance trigger for when/what amount to request Sumsub verification from your customers.
Head over to Compliance > Triggers > + Add new trigger. Configure the trigger type as per your preference, hit Next and as a requirement you want 'External verification' with the 'Service' being 'Sumsub'.
Hit Finish and that's it! Now customers will be prompted for Sumsub verification as soon as they hit whatever trigger threshold you previously configured.
