The Sintra Forte features a battery backup in order to overcome temporary power loss, avoiding a reboot of its ssuboard in case the cryptomat's host location experiences brownouts.
The battery pack recharges on its own when the cryptomat is connected to wall power, however if powering down your Sintra Forte for transport or other reasons, disconnect the battery pack to ensure its ssuboard is fully powered off.
For shipping from our studio, the cable for the battery backup is disconnected. Use the following article to connect or disconnect the battery.
Accessing the battery pack
IMPORTANT: Before connecting or disconnecting the battery pack, first remove wall power to the cryptomat. The battery pack is located close to the machine's power supply, which carries an inherent shock risk.
With the Sintra Forte's chassis door open, locate the black panel underneath the vault:
Using a 4mm hex key, remove the four screws holding the panel in place:
Connecting or disconnecting the battery pack
Behind the panel, the battery pack is the square, black metal enclosure mounted behind the power supply.
Connect (or disconnect) the two white Molex connectors circled below:
If the battery pack has a charge, the ssuboard will power up or remain powered on while connected.
If disconnected (with the cryptomat also unplugged from wall power), the ssuboard will subsequently shut down.
