Douro (2014-2018) – Powering on and off

Shutdown

The Douro must be properly powered off before unplugging it from wall power.

Unexpected power loss could result in corruption of the tablet's hard drive and require reflashing or replacement.

The machine should always be shut down first with a single press and quick release of the power button to the Aaeon tablet inside the door.

Wait for a full shutdown, which includes the Lubuntu splash-screen, followed by a fully black screen. Then the machine may be unplugged from wall power.

Rebooting

The machine may be rebooted remotely via the 'Reboot' button in the Maintenance panel of the Admin.

To physically reboot the machine, use a single press and quick release of the tablet's power button.

When the screen has gone to complete black, press once again to boot.

Do not hold down the power button (long press) to reboot, as this results in a sudden loss of power and can damage the drive.

Recommendations

To avoid data corruption from power loss, we recommend using an uninterruptible power supply (UPS), such as those by APC rated for 600Va or above.
