Just like Twilio and Vonage, Telnyx is used for SMS operator notifications, phone number collection for compliance, and 1-confirmation redemptions on cash-out transactions.
You can choose whichever provider best fit your needs in the Admin > Settings > Notifications
Feel free to reach out to Lamassu Support for any assistance during this setup.
Signing up for Telnyx
Start by creating a Telnyx account, and then confirm your email address following the confirmation link that'll be sent to it.
Adding a Payment Method
Once verified and logged in, you'll want to top up the account's balance to allow you to purchase your number, as well as fund any outgoing SMS notifications.
Head over to Account Settings > Billing and continue with the required billing information.
Purchasing a Number
Now that your account is topped up, let's purchase a phone number. Click on Numbers > My Numbers > Search & Buy Numbers.
From there click on Local Numbers and filter by Region or Area code, selecting SMS as a 'Number Features. Then click on Search Numbers. Pick any number from the list, add it to the cart (located on the top right) and place the order.
This is the number that'll be used to send notifications from. Ensure that you choose a number that is listed as capable of SMS (not all are).
Creating a Messaging Profile and Assigning it to your Number
Once you have your new number, you'll need to configure a messaging profile to allow for SMS to be sent using their API.
To do this, simply click on Messaging > Programmable Messaging. Set the Profile Name to Lamassu, leaving the API Version as it is (API V2) and hit Save at the bottom.
Now head back to Numbers > My Numbers and you'll see your new number at the bottom. Click on its Messaging Profile and assign the brand new Programmable Messaging Profile you just created above.
You'll see a small pop-up message informing you of the change in monthly costs. Hit Accept and that'll be it.
Grabbing the API Key and Entering Credentials on the Admin
An API key should already be created as default. To get it, head over to Account Settings > Keys & Credentials.
Clicking the copy to clipboard icon and enter the credentials in the Telnyx panel of the Admin under 'Settings > 3rd Party Services'.
- The Telnyx number is the phone number you just purchased from Telnyx.
- The Notifications number, is your personal number for when/if you enable Admin SMS Notifications (Settings > Notifications).
⚠️ NOTE: The fields shouldn't have any spaces when you paste the numbers, and should instead look like the image below.
