If you are experiencing this sequence of screens, your machine is connected to your Lamassu server, but some additional configuration is needed.
It can be caused by one of the following:
- Cash box isn't fully inserted
- Malformed currency code in the locale setting
- Ticker source is down or does not support currency
- Bill validator is disconnected
- Server is looking for an exchange account balance regardless of whether trading is enabled in admin
To resolve, perform the following steps in order and provide feedback on the results of each one.
1. Cash Box
Ensure the cash box is fully seated into the bill validator. Pull it out, then let it slide back in under its own weight. You should hear the validator engage when it's inserted properly.
2. Locale Setting
Currency codes and locales must be exact and are case sensitive. For examples, please see the entry for lamassu-set-locale on the Server Commands page.
After running the locale setting command, run:
restart lamassu-serverrestart lamassu-admin
3. Ticker source
Check the source of your ticker to ensure your currency is supported. BitStamp only supports USD and EUR. If it's on the 'Sorry, we're down' screen, it should proceed to the Start screen upon changing ticker source if this is the source of the error.
While making changes to the admin, have no more than once instance of the admin screen open.
4. Bill Validator
Open the machine and look behind the USB hub located on the side of the vault. The clear USB cable connects to the bill validator. Make sure it's fully plugged in (also, check other connections to the USB hub) and note whether the cable's LED light is flashing green.
This error message can be caused by the server checking for an exchange balance when trading has not been set up. In order to disable trading, first ensure that you're on the latest server software, specifically email@example.com. Then, close all instances of your admin console, and run the following commands individually in your server, waiting 5 seconds between each one:
lamassu-disable-tradingrestart lamassu-serverrestart lamassu-admin
If the screen does not revert to Start (or 'Out of Bitcoins'), reboot the machine by holding down on the tablet's power button (located here). If it boots to 'Connected... Waiting for Ticker' unpair by running:
Then, pair once more.
