Use this article to reset the Trofa's tablet to an uninitialised, unpaired state, or to upgrade it to the final software release for Trofas (Ambient Antu v7.1.1).
For the following image, your server will need to also be running v7.1.1.
To bring your Trofa up to the latest software and hardware, please consider the Trofa Upgrade Kit.
Equipment needed
- Small pliers, wrench, or nut driver to remove 7mm nuts
- microUSB cable
- Windows-based PC
Removing the tablet
Behind the door of the Trofa machine, locate the four nuts affixing the retaining bracket of the Nexus tablet. Unscrew these and remove the tablet, carefully unplugging its USB cable.
Flashing the tablet
Download the following files:
Run the adb-setup-1.2 installer, typing Y and Enter at the two prompts. You'll need this program to flash the tablet using fastboot.
Connect the tablet via a micro USB cable to the computer. Once connected, simultaneously hold down the power and volume down buttons on the side of the tablet, continuing to hold through its reboot until it arrives at a black screen with a green Android logo.
Run the following commands individually, replacing C:\path\to\trofa-nexus.bootimg and C:\path\to\trofa-nexus-711.img with the location of the image files on your computer. You can get this by dragging and dropping the image files onto the command window after typing the preceding parts of the command.
The 'unlock' command will require selecting 'yes' on the tablet via the volume up/down buttons, and confirming by pressing the power buttons. Afterwards, you may continue with the rest of the commands.
fastboot oem unlock
fastboot oem off-mode-charge 0
fastboot erase boot
fastboot format userdata
fastboot format system
fastboot flash boot C:\path\to\trofa-nexus.bootimg
fastboot flash system C:\path\to\trofa-nexus-711.img
It will take a couple of minutes to flash, finishing with 'Success'. If you receive a 'Failed' message, try a different brand USB cable and use a different port on your computer.
Connecting, initialising, and pairing
After a successful flash, disconnect the tablet from your PC, and use the volume keys to select 'Turn off' and press once on the power button.
Place the tablet back into the machine, connecting the USB and affixing the retaining bracket.
When the tablet boots, press the on-screen INIT button to generate a pairing certificate.
IMPORTANT: After a couple minutes, it will go to a blank 'Select Wi-Fi' screen. From here, unplug the Trofa from wall power and wait about 10 seconds for the tablet to shut down. When the tablet is on a black screen, plug the Trofa back to wall power. Upon boot, it will now show a list of Wi-Fi networks.
After connecting to Wi-Fi, generate a new pairing from your Admin, press the Pair button and scan the pairing QR code.
